Jane's Regency Rose

Fine Green Tea

Green tea leaves flavored with garden rose petals evoke a proper cup of 'sense and sensibility.'

Jane Austen, one of England’s foremost novelists, was never publicly acknowledged as a writer during her lifetime. Though Austen lived a quiet life, she had unusual access to the greater world, primarily through her brothers. She visited London attending cultural and social events and observed the privileged life of the landed gentry, which is reflected in all her fiction. Several hours after dinner, “the tea board” was served. There would be several types of cake, biscuits, pastries and sandwiches or savories. When the tea board was cleared, it was the polite time for guests to take their leave.

Flowers are at the heart of what many think of as the romantic "mystery" of Dickinson's life. It was Samuel Bowles who gave her a jasmine vine that she kept alive for decades. It was he who called Emily "Daisy," his "Queen."
